Ko wai mātou?

 Kia ora.

Ko Maukatere te mauka

Ko Rakahuri te awa

Ko Ngāi Tūāhuriri te mana whenua

Ko te whānau o Ngā Rākau E Rua mātou. Ngā Rākau E Rua is a bilingual unit in Rangiora Borough School, north of Ōtautahi.

We are a year 6-8 class called the Tuākana and our kaiako is Whaea Kirsty.

In Ngā Rākau E Rua we aim to speak 50% Te Reo Māori and 50% English. In Te Reo Matatini we are working on the Dawn Raid book and finding out what it is about. We haven't done the Readaloud before so we're looking forward to it.

We’ve been doing a lot of mahi toi this year and last term put on a huge production for our whānau, based on the Ngāi tahu creation pūrakau. Next term we're going on camp.

kia ora for reading hope we get to see what you have written.

  1. Kia ora koutou! Ko Kerri tōku ingoa. I am the organiser of #NZreadaloud. Thank you so much for introducing yourselves to everyone.
I just love that your class is bilingual - what a precious time for you all. I'd love you to tell us the sorts of mahi toi you have been doing. It's awesome that the arts are an important part of your programme - for lots of us, this is where our strengths are!
I bet your production was fantastic too. Whānau always love seeing their kids 'on stage'!

I am looking forward to reading more of your learning throughout the #NZreadaloud. The 1970's were an interesting time. Here's somethnig to go and work out - in 1970 I was a 5 year old - so how old am I?

    Kerri
