Room 2 (Yr 7) St Mary's School, Blenheim

 Kia Ora everyone,

We are a year 7 class in Blenheim at St Mary’s School. Our teacher is Miss Bamford. We are a class of 16 students. We work as a team and have all been together for 7 years. We enjoy reading books as a class and going on camps. We also enjoy playing games and hanging out outside of school. We enjoy each other's company and love playing sports together. This week we have been working on a timeline about the 1970s and events that happened from 1970 to 1979.

This is our second time on NZ read aloud, as our first one was a book called The Tomo.

We are so excited to start to read the book with you all and connect about it.

Predictions

Casey - Sofia might have to move back to her island and she will get separated from her family.

Sofia - One of Sofia's family members will get arrested for protesting.

Ava - Sofia might get immigrated from her home in the pacific islands and because they didn’t really like pacific people in the 1970s then they started the dawn raids.

Freda - There is an investigation going on and then Sofia will tell us about the 1970s and what events happened.

Janaya - I think that Sofia will get separated from her family and the police will take her family to the police station for protesting and Sofia will get left behind at the house.

  1. Kia ora Room 2. My name is Kerri and I organise #NZreadaloud for Year 5-8. Thank you so much for introducing yourselves and telling us a little bit about your class and what you enjoy doing. I find that very interesting that the class has been together for 7 years. You must be a really tight and close-knit group. I love this. I have a question - has your teacher moved through with you all from Year 1 or have you had different teachers as you've moved up the years?

I love all the learning you are doing about the 70's. It was an interesting decade! In 1975 I was 10 years old - there's a bit of maths for you; work out how old I am!!!

Please keep coming in and sharing - we love to see what everyone is up to. Also, grab the blog link and reply to some of the other classes. Everyone loves to see that people are actually reading and interacting with the content in here.

Reading starts on Monday - I look forward to hearing a bit about what you are thinking!

    K
