Te Moana Yr 5/6 Class St Anthony's
Kia ora koutou.
We are a small catholic school in Wellington. This term we have Mrs Cripps teaching on Thursdays to release our teacher Miss von Lanthen who is our school DP. Mrs Cripps will be directing this awesome book study through #NZreadaloud. As a school, we have never been part of #NZreadaloud but Mrs Cripps was many years ago.
We have started our own blog. We will be adding to this each week. Feel free to have a browse.
We really enjoyed the first reading this week. We had fun sketchnoting (new to us all), researching a bit about the author and NZ in the 1970s, studying the book cover through "I see/think/wonder", and beginning conversations about the dawn raids. We like the snippets of humour in the book and can't believe that $12.99 (for a pair of groovy, white go-go boots) is expensive! It was also interesting that colour TV is only just starting to come out during this time.
We are really looking forward to reading more and delving deeper into this novel. We will post a picture of our class when we have one...
Hey there team at St. Anthony's it is Kerri here (I organise #NZreadaloud for Yr 5-8).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for connecting with us all on this official #NZraDawnRaid22 Blog. It is fun to read about all the various classes around NZ who are reading and studying this book.
The 70's must seem surreal to you young kids - especially when you find out how much cheaper everything was!
I can't wait to see a photo of you all next time Mrs Cripps is in with you all on Thursday. But in the meantime, come in and read some of the other posts and leave a reply if you can!
Kia ora St. Anthony's, it is Lucian here. I am from Room 13, Tamatea Intermediate school and I enjoyed finding out that you are new to #NZreadaloud. I am wondering if you would like to share what you are enjoying about the story and program so far and why?
