Stants Week 3 Update

We finally have a class photo!

We really enjoyed the reading this week. We had so many laughs, especially the part about when the new boy from Samoa started Sofia's school and had everyone in fits of laughter - we were too!

We were inspired to learn more about Rakau and how to use them so we spent a bit of time on that, to the song "E Papa Waiari". It's pretty tricky to keep time and not speed up! We had to concentrate pretty hard.

We have begun a few class padlets too. We will add to these throughout the whole book read. Feel free to add to them as well:

Thoughts / Wonderings / Questions

Language in Dawn Raid

We also started learning how to use Google Drawings to create a timeline, looking at things that were happening in the 1970s.

We found the reading this week hilarious! We talked about how laughter fuels the soul and it's so good to be able to laugh at yourself. We all make mistakes. They give us something to learn from.

  1. Hi there students at St. Anthony's. (I am hoping I got that right). My name is Kerri and I organise the #NZreadaloud for Year 5-8. It is fantastic to have you participating this term. You are lucky to have teachers who want to give something new a try!

I LOVE that you have been inspired to try rākau. It is so much fun and makes us realise the hand/eye co-ordination needed for activities like this!

It is also fantastic that you are learning about Google Drawing and creating a timeline - very impressive. Maybe when the book is finished and the timeline complete you could share it in the Blog for me to have a look at. The author would love to see it too.

Being able to laugh at ourselves and mistakes is the greatest. I am super happy that you are learning this. Thanks for sharing your learning so far. I look forward to the next post!
